The lessons is a preview version of Robert Ashley's seven-episode television opera, Perfect lives. With four segments titled Music, Word, Fire, and I would do it again, this preview introduces the opera's principal characters as well as its unique video and music techniques. Blue Gene Tyranny plays keyboard variations on the theme song from episode three of the opera.
